A rough night in Fort Providence, along MacKenzie River. Very rough community. Not a restful sleep -- combined with park warden warning us of black bear in area and to make sure we lock up our foodstuffs; however, upon waking at 2:00 a.m., amid a strange glow inside tent, we experienced a most beautiful surprise --a spectacular aurora show! I wakened Dirk immediately, and there we were with our cameras 'til 3 a.m. in bear country trying to capture. Very special memories made.
